CICADA SMART TARGET TRAINING SYSTEM
Bringing Real Steel Inspired Aim Training to Airsoft
Accessible Training Tool for Building Reflexes and Precision
Intended to add a reactive element to target training, Cicada combines random popup, hit detection, and precise timing to force the shooter through the full decision loop instead of simply memorizing static targets. Targets are controlled with a shot timer that records hits, misses, and total shooting course time. Users can program random sequence length, target speed, and reset delay. Training should be accessible so target design prioritizes functional efficiency to make them economical to produce and maintain.
Cicada Smart Target Demo
Prototype 3D printed Modular Design
Designed for rapid iteration, the Cicada target module is constructed of a fully 3D printed skeletal frame that snaps together. Faces and components hold various hardware and electronics. Assembly is durable and accessible.
Battery Powered, Wireless Control
Targets run on a standard 18650 Li-ion for 4-8 hours of battery life. Shot timer controller runs on a 2000 mAh 1S lipo. All wireless communications are on a custom 2.4 GHz based protocol to give 100 ft of range with up to 100 targets in a system. Devices are rechargeable.
Fully Mechanical Target Feedback
Hits physically knock over the 3" steel target face with a satisfying ring. Hits as low as 0.25J can knock over the target despite the design being wind resistant. Instant feedback and no sensors to get confused by target base hits.
Designed for Manufacturing From The Start, Intended to be Mass Produced
Cicada Targets are 3D printed with minimal post processing or extra hardware required to structurally support the design. Goal is to get sub $20 total material cost per unit
Mission Focused, Maximum Functionality, Minimal Price.
Cicada's mission is to make targets in airsoft more than an arcade novelty and to provide the most training value to end users. We intend to design a product that is both affordable and reliable while serving the milsim end user specifically. Through leveraging 3D printing and years of electrical engineering experience Cicada has become a reality that is on its way to becoming a product. Stay tuned for more.
